As Indiana experienced inclement weather these past weeks, closing schools across the state,
students on the Vincennes University campus found different ways to pass the time in these
frigid temperatures.
“I spent the majority of my free time getting up to speed with assignments and lots of cleaning,”
said Tamia Taylor, a junior studying pre-dental.
“Having those days off was relaxing, but it also threw my flow off a little bit. Not so much that
I’m far behind though.”
Olivia Proctor, a marketing major who plans to graduate this spring, said having time off paved the way for “a
great last-minute decision.”
“Being from Ohio, it’s hard finding the time to go home and see family throughout the school
year, so I took the risk and drove home for a couple days.”
“Although it was a risky choice, I ended up making it back home safely,” Proctor said.
Although the campus cancelled classes for two days, some athletic teams still had practices to
attend.
Devin Wilson, a runner on the VU track team, said he spent his few days off “continuing my
training for the indoor track season.”
“With this year being my last year running for VU, I want to make sure I leave my mark on the
track,” Wilson said.
“I used the break as an opportunity to practice my events and also took time to be seen by the
trainer to make sure my body is good for the next meet.”
