Students, faculty and community members on Thursday gathered for the annual Vincennes Counseling Center Health Fair.

Inside the Jefferson Student Union, 16 different organizations each set up their own tables to showcase various resources for student wellness, including the Vincennes University Police Department, the IU School of Medicine, Heart to Heart Hospice, and Pace Health Connection.

Students had the chance to enter a raffle for various prizes if they participated in activities during the event.

One example of this was the simulated drunk bowling, where students could volunteer to wear fatal vision goggles and try bowling, to serve as a lesson as to how alcohol impairs capabilities.

Another table allowed attendees to attempt field sobriety tests while wearing fatal vision goggles.

The Heart to Heart Hospice team even brought a service dog, to raise awareness for how service animals can aid patients on hospice care and act as their companion.

“We usually try to have a theme,” said Jennifer Andrews, a counselor at the VU Counseling Center.

Past events have had other focuses such as March Madness or Mario Kart, and this year was inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Several workers were dressed as characters from the novel, and a yellow brick road decoration was across the JSU floor.
