Lothian Skelton, officials with Vincennes University, the Red Skelton Foundation, and the VU Foundation will gather on Monday for a ceremonial groundbreaking at the future site of the Lothian and Red Skelton Gallery of Art, an expansion to the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy, 20 W. Red Skelton Boulevard.
The Skelton Estate has pledged a gift of $4 million to “honor the legacy of Lothian Skelton’s late husband, world-famous comedian and Vincennes native Red Skelton,” says a release issued by the university.
The 7,200-square-foot art gallery will showcase Red Skelton’s artwork.
The ceremony is set for 1 p.m. The public is invited.
