    It’s homecoming week at VU

As the semester draws to a close, students at Vincennes University are buzzing with excitement as Homecoming Weekend nears.

Vincennes University has many events leading up to Homecoming, such as the murder mystery dinner in the Beckes Student Union and bowling nights free to students this whole week.

Today from 11 a.m. to noon everyone can meet the Homecoming court at the Jefferson Student Union followed by karaoke from 6-8 p.m. Snacks will be provided.

On Friday, there will be a tailgate happening prior to the women’s basketball game located on the upper deck of the gym from 4-6:30 p.m. Prizes will be given out, and food and drinks will be provided. This event is free to all VU students and faculty, and others in the community are encouraged to attend.  The women’s basketball team will take on Owens Community College at 7 p.m. The cost is $5 at the door; VU students and faculty can attend free with a university ID.

Saturday is Homecoming Day. Both VU men’s and women’s basketball teams will be playing in the VU classic. The women’s team will start the day at 5 p.m. playing Mineral Area College. The men follow at 7 p.m. against Indian Hills Community College.

Directly after the men’s game, a Homecoming Masquerade Ball will be held in the Jefferson Student Union for all VU students.

According to Student Activities Director Elizabeth Hutchinson, “The masquerade ball is free for all VU students. Guests should be signed in and accompanied with a student at all times.”

    The ball ends at midnight.

“This event is a semi-formal event,” Hutchinson said. “students should strive to look their best!”
