What to do on the weekends?

Finding things to do with friends on or around campus can be difficult, especially since COVID-19 hit. Some businesses shortened their hours, while some just closed down altogether. Although some people may think there is not a lot to do in a small town like Vincennes, there is more than meets the eye.

Vincennes is well-known for its historic housing, be it the French-style student apartments or Grouseland. The city boasts a wealth of historic events from the battle for Fort Knox, to George Rogers Clark crossing the Wabash river, and our very own Vincennes University’s proud start as Indiana’s first college.

Women’s basketball team looks back

On Feb. 23, Sophomore Night, the women’s Trailblazer basketball team earned an 84-43 victory over the Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) at the PE complex. It was the 20th winning game of the season and the team achieved its year-long goal of winning 20 games. Coach Harry Meeks praised the team, saying that they played well and were a good basketball team this year.
American football player and wrestler Ernie Ladd was also a leading civil rights figure in the WWE in the 1960s.

Ernie Ladd was an American football player, who played professionally in the American Football League, which would later go on to be the National Football League. Nicknamed “The Big Cat”, Ladd was the biggest player to have played in the league during the 1960s at a staggering 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 300 pounds. Ladd would use his size and natural athletic ability to become a four time AFL all star and an AFL league champion during his eight year tenure.
The Knox County Poor Farm building stands abandoned. Many questions remain about its future.

Campus has been undergoing many changes and renovations recently. Students most likely have witnessed construction take place while walking to and from class each day. Perhaps the most impactful project currently taking place on campus is the upgrading of the walkways and removal of bricks.
