Making room for new resources
Every few years the library does a purge of all the books at least 10 years old that haven’t been checked out in a long time. Debbie Hannah, a technical service assistant at the Shake Learning Resource Center, said they use this to not only encourage community, staff, faculty members and students to take home these resources but also to make room for newer books and to update their system. This giveaway is also to make room for the renovations planned for the Shake LRC in the coming years. The hope is to make room for more counseling and student services in the building. While there is no set end date, the library workers estimate their book supply to last for another three weeks.
