Vincennes University will host a Veterans Day Program honoring all military veterans later this week.
The event has been set for 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center, 20 W. Red Skelton Blvd.
The program will focus on “celebrating the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of veterans across the community,” according to a press release issued by the university.
Sponsored by the VU Support Staff Council, the program will recognize the contributions of all service members “as a symbol of gratitude for their dedication to the nation,” the release states.
VU invites faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members to join in the tribute to veterans.
This year’s guest speaker is Retired Lt. Col. David Roellgen, U.S. Army National Guard JAG Corps. A Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal will be presented. The program will also include formal recognition of veterans, special musical tributes, and a 21-gun salute. The VU Pep Band will perform music prior to and following the program.
