To kick off fall festivities on campus, students last week were invited to decorate mini-Styrofoam pumpkins in one of the resident halls.
On Monday evening, Vigo Hall’s resident assistants coordinated an event during which students decorated pumpkins and hung out with friends. This event is one of many that the resident halls on campus plan to have for students to
enjoy.
“Just in this building, I know that we’re going to have a door decorating competition next week, and the week after that we’re going to host a Halloween party,” said Assistant Resident Hall Coordinator Ethan Gentry.
Gentry said that although they thought about carving pumpkins, “having knives on campus wasn’t the best option” for a campus event.
Regardless, students arrived and immediately began painting and drawing on their pumpkins as they engaged in laughs and smiles with friends.
Environmental Science major Eric Kenpf said, “socializing is my favorite part about these types of events.”
Campus events give students a chance to meet new friends and take a break from studying in order to decompress.
“I hope we get to keep these [pumpkins],” Kenpf said as he finished a drawing of a raven.
