University students recently gathered at the Rec Center to celebrate each other in a fun and bonding way.
On Aug. 18, students gathered in the VU Rec Center to enjoy a night of intramural sports and activities.
With the smell of popcorn in the air and laughter all around, the students had a great time exploring the Rec Center and all it had to offer.
Kayla Allen, a junior at the University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, came to VU to do character drawings, the images capturing students’ true feelings of being a Trailblazer.
While some students were being drawn up by Kayla, many others were in the center of it all, playing badminton, dodging some dodge balls, and even playing some cornhole, too.
There was a little something for everyone, but many were there simply to make a friend or two.
Freshman Aleah Heineman and Jordan Robinson both came to Rock the Rec to get henna tattoos and to meet new people, Heineman says.
“I just loved the different options for everyone and the fact that it wasn’t just sports but other things students could be involved in,” she said.
Rock the Rec was a great way for students and faculty to come together and get to know one another.
The university is small, but the event’s turnout revealed a diverse diverse community full of energy and excitement.
Rock the Rec brought out all walks of life — people from different races and cultures — for a night of fun together.
Those interested in intramural sports and other activities at the Rec Center can visit the facility, located inside the Jefferson Student Union.
The Rec Center is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
