VU holds annual Dash Down the Bash

The Trailblazer staff had the opportunity to interview the head director of CAB (Campus Activities Board), Rick Cox about Vincennes University’s most recent Dash Down the Bash. This event has been held at VU for decades. This year it occurred on Sept. 22. Last year it was cancelled due to low water levels in the river.

“As long as we are able to do it we will continue the tradition,” said Cox.

There were eight teams that raced with a total of 80 students and faculty members participating. Departments and organizations such as the admissions office, residence halls and the dance team participated.

Cox believes that students should participate in student activities like Dash Down the Bash because “it shows spirit of camaraderie and teamwork.”

This year CAB added a few more activities to this event to bring in more students such as a barbeque lunch and a cornhole tournament.

Mecca Duer, a voice major from Indianapolis, participated in Dash Down the Bash because she wanted to represent the dance team in a positive way.

“I like how the race brought us a little closer, especially since cheer and dance are rarely together right now. So it was nice to get to know some of the cheer team,” Duer explained.

Duer said she feels that there should be more athletic activities for all students to participate in because it was an extremely fun experience.
