‘Silent Sky’ comes to the stage

The VU Theatre Program will be presenting “Silent Sky” by Lauren Gunderson.

The play takes place at the beginning of the 19th-century when the first women started to work at the Harvard Observatory. The true story of astronomer Henrietta Leavitt explores a woman’s place in society during a time of scientific discoveries. It talks about social progress, scientific progress and how it can be hard to see when people let complications get in the way.

Theatre Program Chair Kenda Clauser said, “This play has a smaller cast but it still has some major difficulties. All the cast members have to be aware of the terms that they use and familiar with everything they say.”

Show times are Thursday, Feb. 20, 7 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 21, 7 p.m.; Saturday,Feb. 22, 7 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 23, 2 p.m.
