According to 1972 coordinator, Chelsea McCarthy, “1972 has activities such as a 24 foot rockwall, laser tag, blacklight putt-putt, art room, spa room, bounce house obstacle course, and basketball courts.”

There is even a game room that has a “2 Virtual Reality game systems, 6 PCs, 2 Playstations, 4 Xbox, 1 Nintendo Switch, and 3 original Atari” for those who are gamers.

KCARC 1972 was named by Mike Carney, the president of 1972, and is a non-profit business that follows Carney’s mission to provide work for individuals with disabilities. “1972 employs 75% of those who have disabilities.” KCARC 1972 also provides after school care for kids and provides food options such as walking tacos, pizza, and sub sandwiches for the after school program as well.

KCARC 1972 provides pottery classes for those who are artists at heart. The community center brings a great amount of color and fun to those who visit.

KCARC 1972 is located at 711 Wheatland Road and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 12-8 p.m. Cost of admission is $6 on weekdays and $8 on weekends. Unlimited access to every activity costs $10 during the week and $12 on the weekend.
